UPDATE: Found a maintainer who has started a new fork of the pftpfxp project. He has created a package that incorporates all of the features I've been supplying patches for. The new pftp-shit project can be found at http://www.derijk.org/pftp/
I will cease patch maintenance for the original and mew editions of pftpfxp in favor of mirroring pftp-shit.

While the original project by pSI & HoE died back in 2003, tanesha picked it up for about a year and added many auto-trading features and general enhancements for more "scene" related usage.

As the mew edition has also died, I have worked to maintain some patch support for the continued use of this fine FTP/FXP client. Along with getting the package added to the Gentoo portage tree, a patch against versions of GCC >=3.4 was made to fix the array syntax changes. This patch must be applied prior to any other patches.

With the advent of distributed FTP daemons, a method for using passive mode FTP connections needed to be developed to support the multiple slave filesystems. The fix was the introduction of PRET , an RFC959 dependant PRE Transfer command. I modified the PRET patch for the original pftpfxp source to work with mew6.

Both patches are inculded in Gentoo portage and PRET support is 100% backward compatible and will not break any other usage scenarios of pftpfxp-mew.

TODO: I am planning to adapt the FiReBiRd PRE patch for mew6 so that I can abandon the original pftpfxp builds all together.
